The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee centers on a fictional spelling bee set in the geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, which is overseen by three equally eccentric grown-ups.
As they spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, the teens candidly disclose hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, all while dealing with the stresses, embarrassments, and occasional upsets of adolescence. This show is guaranteed to leave you laughing, crying, and wondering if “hasenpfeffer” is even a real word.
